My mum used to make this pie when we were kids. Tasty apple filling and soft crust. The vanilla pudding makes the pie creamy and even tastier.
It's easy to make and believe me everyone will love it.
Ingredients:
- 250 g. butter
- 200 g. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 packet baking powder
- 3 apples
- 5 tablespoons powder sugar
- 100 gr. walnuts (ground)
For the vanilla pudding
- 1 packet vanilla pudding powder
- 250 ml milk
- 5 tablespoons sugar
Heat the oven to 180 C (350F)
Beat the butter with the sugar until well combined. Add the eggs and mix a couple of minutes. Add the flour and the baking powder. Knead the dough with hands. It should be soft but not sticky. Divide the dough in two parts.
Grate the apples and mix them with the powder sugar and walnuts.
Place one part of the dough in a greased pan. You can use your hands or a spoon to spread the dough evenly in the pan.
Spread the apple mixture over the dough and cover it with the rest of the dough. You can simply cover the apples or you can make something like lace as I did.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden-brown on top.
Make the vanilla pudding as it is said on the packet.
Pour 2-3 tablespoons vanilla pudding on a plate and then put one piece of pie on top.
Enjoy!
