Delicious and heart warming mushroom pie. Fresh mushrooms with soft onion and garlic, wrapped in sour cream sauce.
Ingredients
For the pie dough
- 500 grams (1 pound) flour
- 10 grams dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 250 ml ( 1 cup) lukewarm water
- 100 grams butter, softened
For the filling
- 500 grams ( 1 pound ) fresh mushrooms
- 3 onions
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 200 grams (1 cup) sour cream
- some oregano
- some black pepper
- 1 egg and 1 egg yolk
- 3 Tbsp. milk
Heat the oven at 180 C (350 F)
Place the flour in a bowl. Mix the yeast and sugar with the water and add that mixture to the flour. Add the egg and the butter and some salt.
Knead the dough well. It needs to be soft, but not very sticky. Leave the dough in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Heat some oil in a pan. Chop the onions and the garlic and put them in the pan. Fry them on medium heat for 5 minutes. Slice the mushrooms and add them to the onions. Fry them for 5 more minutes. Add the sour cream and the spices and cook everything for 5 more minutes.
Take the dough and place it on a floured surface. Flatten the dough on the surface with your hands, and then using a rolling pin roll it so it is 5mm thick.
Make two circles from the dough. One bigger for the bottom and one smaller for the pie topping. I use the baking pan to cut out the circles.
Grease the baking pan. Press the bigger piece of dough on the bottom of the pan. Add the mushrooms and cover the pie with the other part of the dough. Make a hole on the top of the pie.
Mix the egg yolk with 2-3 Tbs. of milk. Spread that mixture over the pie.
Bake for 60 to 70 minutes.
Bon appetit!
